WATER AND HYDROELECTRIC POWER
I thought that, as the focal point of this ESP is water, we should discuss about hydroelectric power.
According to Wikipedia, " Hedroelectricity is electricity generated by hydropower, i.e., the production of power through use of the gravitational force of falling or flowing water. It is the most widely used form of renewable energy. Once a hydroelectric complex is constructed, the project produces no direct waste and has a considerably lower output level of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide than fossil fuel power energy plants."
Many people support this form of energy, because it has many advantages. For example, it does not produce waste or pollution. It is also more reliable than wind, solar or wave power. And, of course, electricity produced there can be generated constantly.
On the other hand, there are many who oppose this form of energy. One disadvantage of hydroelectric dams is that they are very expensive to build, whereas building a large dam can cause problems for animals that used to live it the area. Another drawback is that the water quality of the area the dam is built can be affected, which can have an impact on plant life. Finally, the impact a hydroelectric complex will have on the residents of the district where it is built can be unacceptable and may lead to the relocation of the people living there.
So, what do you think? Is hydroelectric power a solution to our energy problems?
