Wind generator plans link and question
This is the link to a home made wind generator. The blade plan (click on it to download the high quality file) in the upper right is the best blade I have ever used!

The link is here-
http://www.tongacharter.com/report-wind.htm

My question is the alternator to generator system is listed as experimental. Anybody have a good design for making the change?

Scott

RE: Wind generator plans link and question
Using wind power AND solar power is never a good choice 'cos they are pathetically unreliable and they don't produce much electricity. Solar power produces less energy in a lifetime than the energy used for making them. Worse, wind turbines kill a lot of birds out of the air. Read the URL for more information.

Got to be honest here. I have used two wind generators for the last 20+ years and I have yet to find a dead bird on deck. If the bird thing is true you would think at least one bird would have hit the deck by now?

I do know when I stand on the cliffs of most Pacific Islands (I work in the islands) and feel the wind rushing past I have to wonder why wind is not in use everywhere. The French S. Pac island of Makemo uses 6 wind turbines and it's great. We spent three weeks on the island and I never once heard the diesel gensets crank up even though I checked every day.
